Liverpool: What a place!! My travelling pals (Susan, Amy and Mary Jo) and I arrived here late on October 16 for an overnight stay. We visited the Cavern replica that night. On Friday, it was a whirlwind tour of LIPA, The Liverpool Cathedral, Albert Dock and then the fabulous Magical Mystery Tour in which we saw all the Fabs' childhood homes. It was also here while shopping in the Beatles Store, that the proprietor saw me from behind and recognized that I was in a local newspaper with Paul. It was a shot taken during the HMV session. Granted it was the back of my head but Paul looked fab of course and considering I had spent the night on the street, it may have been my best side anyroad ;-). Needless to say, I picked up a *few* copies of The October 17 Daily Post ;-). Liverpool was wonderful. The people were great and just being in the same place where it all started was a thrill beyond words.
LIPA: Lunchroom How cool is this? We're eating lunch at the veggie cafeteria with Linda's pics all over the walls. From l-r: Toni, Joyce, Marcia (Fiona is taking the piccie) After LIPA, we walked over to The Liverpool Cathedral. Walking in took my breath away and I can only imagine how magical it must have been to be here for the premiere of The Liverpool Oratorio.
Strawberry Fields Forever.. Another magical moment. The gates of SF. This is on a very narrow side street but what impact it has. Imagine the magic...
John and Joyce Two cool cats, hanging out on Mathew Street

LIPA: Paul McCartney Auditorium It was a thrill to be able to get a tour inside this incredible school. Here I am sitting in the seat that Paul sat in when the school first opened. (Actually, he and the Queen sat in these front two seats and since we weren't sure who sat where, we each took turns sitting in each seat... naturally ;-)).
The Cavern (kind of) Okay, so it's not the real thing. Still it was lovely to be on Matthew Street in virtually the same place as the original.
Forthlin Road Walking down this street was another huge special moment amongst a week of them. I'm not sure if Martha or I managed to snap more angles of Paul's house and the surrounding area ;-). Exhibiting true Macca karma, the somewhat cloudy day actually turned to sunshine as we approached 20 Forthlin Road and left soon after we left. Coincidence? I think not <g>. Yikes Admitedly a scary piccie, but it pretty much sums up the week for me! Grins from ear to ear. Thank you to everyone of you who I met along the way to make this an unforgettable trip of a lifetime!!!!! And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make... |
