Fri, May 25: Les Baux, Cathedrale des Images
For our last day in France, we decided on Les Baux. A stunning village up in a mountain. A snooty guy was selling cookies/candy at a beautiful shop. We bought some cookies and headed up the hillside to see the village ruins at the top. Big, stupendous views all around in addition to seeing a big old, ruined village. Funny to see kids on a field trip here - what a field trip, eh!? I and I walked up a very steep, very uneven set of stairs to see the top of the ruins and the mountain. I was very nervous as there were signs all around to watch your kids so they didn't fall off the mountain. I was determined and wouldn't back down so up we went! W ended up schlepping D up as well in the Baby Bjorn. When we started going back, I fell on a slight decline and got very upset. Between that and the heat, we were all a bit crabby when we got to the bottom. We got some food at a little bakery at the foot of the village. I freaked out at the smells in the bakery ("I DON'T LIKE HOW IT SMELLS HERE!"). I ended up finding out generally how to get to Cathedrale des Images which I thought would be cool to see. Inside this cave/quarry it was nice and cool and we were all chilled out when we came out. They display images on the cave walls with classical music playing in the background. It's kind of neat. I and D slept on the way back in the car which was nice. We went swimming and did some more laundry to finish off the day. Got packed up for an early departure to Italy in the morning!| Starting the day in the Little House kitchen. |
