Wed, May 30: Sienna, Italy
Tough parking in Sienna as well. Another very impressive city. It has a huge square in the center of this medieval town. The weather was very good until we got some rain at the end.

After walking through a big market, we entered the main part of the city with an impressive start.

Fantastic small square/piazza outside a museum.

D is jiggy in the stroller.

I asked me to take some pictures while he tried his hat in funny ways :-). Behind him is the big square where we had a picnic.

Picnic on the square.

Part of the Duomo that was never completed. From the museum, you could climb up a stone spiral staircase to a rather precarious walkway to the top! There are warnings to hold onto your kids and the view is wonderful up there.

I standing in front of the Baptistery.

Inside the Duomo. Completed around 1215, it's an impressive building made of black and white marble. At one point, there was some consideration to knock the whole building down and start again using the latest architecture. Sheesh.

Some of the stunning artwork.

A scene from The Massacre of the Innocents is part of the marble flooring. Most of the floor is covered during the year with only parts showing.

From the top of the duomo wall reached through the museum.

I walks through one of the narrow passageways as we explore the wall.

Above the city.
